About This Website

ChubsOS was started on December 22, 2025 as an experiment of what I could do with HTML + CSS + JS. As I age, I've become more interested in what it means to interact with the world through digital means---what does it mean to be in relation with the world around us if we are Othered?

With this purpose, I decided to create different spaces on the internet that felt reflective of the possibilities. I also yearned for the Web1.0, which predates the social media silo-focused and centralized web we are currently forced to consume.

Current Theme Details

chubsOS v 33.3 (beta) - a retro nostalgic theme - I grew up perpetually online and ran a fansite empire. Once social media silos became more omnipresent, I eventually burned myself out. After hearing about the Indie Web Revival and similar movements, I decided that my nostalgia for the old web would manifest in this website's layout. I borrowed the system.css framework as a 'base' template and shaped it towards what I believe a "dream" desktop or representation of myself would look like in website form. I included a dynamic, animated pixel background, and included many "cute" details in order to satisfy my inner child.

Manifesto + Philosophy

I am currently editing this, but when it's finished, I will write a number of reasons why this website exists, what it's used for and why I continue to code by hand.

Artificial Intelligence

The only time I use Artificial Intelligence is to assist with validating code, and to explain challenging and new concepts to me in a digestible manner. (All of the code that exists on this site has been made by a human, remixed and played around with.)
